Fountain Pen Notebook Update
February 15, 2011Read moreI’m thinking the initial run will be between 4×6 and 5×7, use double-wire binding, heavy covered board covers, and smooth paper stock that is thick enough to not bleed through or feather using a Lamy Medium Nib w/ Noodler’s Bulletproof Black. Fine Point Sharpie will be the acid test that would be nice; it’ll depend on the paper samples that come in and the cost. Also will investigate the rounded corner option.
I’m expecting to get some paper samples this week from the rep, and am testing various inks and pen combinations. If you have a suggestion on inks to test with, let me know your recommendations. Thanks!

Rainlender Skin for Compact Calendar
February 13, 2011Read moreI got an email from Jorge Luis, letting me know that he’d made a Rainlender skin based on the Compact Calendar. From what I can tell, Rainlender is a desktop calendar app for Mac, Linux, and Windows that appears right on your desktop. I haven’t tried it myself, but it looks like a neat idea.

Glass Water Bottles (and a new section)

Rather than post the review as a blog post, I’m putting it in a new section on the website for documenting techniques, reviews, and how-tos in an easy-to-browse format. The navigational structure isn’t yet there, but I’m hoping it will be a much friendlier browsing environment than the old wiki while also concentrating that delicious Google juice ;-)

Takeya Glass Water Bottles
February 10, 2011Read more
I’ve been wanting to hydrate more frequently, but face a personal hangup: I hate the taste of water that has been sitting in a plastic container. And I also have issues with water from metal bottles; apparently I am one of a small percentage of people who can taste stainless steel. So, I’ve been looking for a stylish glass water bottle that transports well and is relatively tough. (more…)
