  • WIP: Next, the GHDR Tracker Log (GHD004)

    February 5, 2016

"CGT Goals " Woohoo, I finally woke up before 7AM to get an early start on Day 4 of my 2016 Groundhog Day Resolution Challenge! Today I’m building on the work from yesterday’s point value list, which identified “tasks that contribute to my goals”, for the design of a Groundhog Day Resolutions Tracker based on my old concrete goals tracker form. While I am getting a little antsy about not having it done yet for actual goals, I think the progress I made today is still pretty cool. Read onward for some more about how the tool might work; keep in mind this is a work in progress! (more…)

  • WIP: Implementing the GHDR Tracker Point List (GHD003)

    February 4, 2016

"CGT Goals " It’s Day 3 of my 2016 Groundhog Day Resolution Challenge. Still pacing myself, though I’m feeling a little antsy to really get moving. I’ve been taking the time to design a goal tracker for this year, based on my old concrete goals tracker. Today’s post picks up from yesterday, when I largely just did concept outlining (more…)

  • Conceptualizing a Groundhog Day Resolutions Tracker (GHD002)

    February 3, 2016

"Concept of GHDR Tracker" It’s Day 2 of my 2016 Groundhog Day Resolution Challenge, and I’m starting it off pretty slow. There are a number of tasks I have to handle, and so I’m taking a bit of advice from myself to “embrace slowness” rather than “pursue speediness”. I scoped the work for today as designing a “Groundhog Day Resolutions Tracker” based on my old concrete goals tracker, which is the first productivity form I ever made. There’s a lot of things I like about it, and to this day its principles guide me in all my productivity-focused decision making. (more…)

  • 2016 Groundhog Day Resolutions: Kickoff! (GHD001)

    February 2, 2016

Groundhog Day Resolutions 2016 Welcome to another year of Groundhog Day Resolutions! Groundhog Day Resolutions (GHDR) came from the thought that January 1st is too early for making vows, because I’m still cleaning up after the previous year! And so I decreed, as a matter of practicality and as homage to the movie Groundhog Day, that my resolution-making would be postponed one month plus one day to February 2nd. I also liked the pattern of using doublets for the dates, so I decided to hold reviews on 3/3, 4/4, etc.

This is the tenth year I am doing Groundhog Day Resolutions, and so I want to make it a big one! There will be (ulp) 314 days of New Thing Every Day plus hitting all my stuck goals for 2024. Details follow! (more…)

  • Clutter-Busting Week Reviewed!

    January 18, 2016

"Clutter Progress" The first week has passed, and while I didn’t spend every day actively decluttering, it went pretty well! I had wanted to sort two boxes of books, and I ended up going through 10! It’s slowly dawning on me, though, that I have about 20 boxes of books to go through, and my goal of winnowing the collection down to a single stack of six shelves is unlikely to happen. Rather than write about it, though, I stitched together a five minute video to show the progress itself.

You’ll get to see some of my book collection as I ponder the organizational challenge! Video is something I’m going to be playing with more in 2016, as the Living Room Cafe comes together!
