  • Notebook Update: Getting Ready to Ship

    April 10, 2013

"Notebooks from Bindery" I got an email from my printer Papergraphics, letting me know that the notebooks have come back from the bindery. I popped over to take a picture of the pile of boxes and examine some samples. I have the Amazon listing set up, and I might even have a solution for non-USA fulfillment later this month.

What’s left? Shrinkwrapping, SKU labeling, and then shipping to Amazon’s warehouses. It’s probably going to be two weeks before the inventory is ready to go. I’ve set up a New Stuff Newsletter on MailChimp, if you want to receive email notification for when this (and other products) are available. Add your email address to the list at the Dave Seah New Products and Downloads List.

  • GHDR Review 2: New Website, Increasing Opportunity

    April 4, 2013

Hello resolution makers! Today, April 4, is the second review day of Groundhog Day Resolutions 2013. This past month was spent fixing my website so visitors to davidseah.com would have a better browsing experience, and so they could (nudge nudge) find the products I’m offering for sale. It’s all part of my general push for creative independence and self-sufficiency. The “month of marketing” was frustrating and also mentally draining, but I learned a lot and have managed to deliver. Read onward for the details. (more…)

  • Stage 1 Blog Update: Complete

    April 3, 2013

I just implemented the new graphical headers. Some links aren’t working quite right yet (notably the “latest blog posts” link) because those will be fixed in Stage 2: creating the new website structure. If anything else looks broken, let me know…thanks!

  • The Process of Redesigning My Own Website: Update

    March 30, 2013

Marketing Challenge I haven’t been posting updates to this month’s March Marketing Challenge because I felt it would be boring to most readers subscribed to the main article feed. I’ve been busy, though! I finally seem to be entering the home stretch toward finishing this month’s goal of revamping the home page of this website, so it’s a good time to catch everyone up.

While I initially thought I would spend just 15 minutes a day thinking about Marketing, what ended up happening was that I would use those 15 minutes to start a day of production. Some days were more productive than others; links to all the articles are documented on the Marketing Challenge Summary Page.

The most visual posts are From Abstract to Visual and The Week of Pushing Through, but in entirety I think the series would be interesting to anyone who wonders what struggles I face when I’m designing something close to me.

  • C2-16-21 The Week of Pushing Through

    March 30, 2013

After the seeming lack-of-progress of last week, I re-assessed my approach: was I trying to do too much by redesigning the entire website? Perhaps I could just make some updates to the current website. With that, I managed to finally get the front page to a place where it’s actually quite close to the original design concept, but first I had to deal with the presentation and design of the page’s inner content blocks one-by-one.
