This year’s Groundhog Day Resolutions (cycle 18!) is driven by this question:
“Will deep, daily conversations with like-minded people naturally drive creative independence?”
The big idea is that I have several strong-held values and traits that affect how well I engage with work as a single creative entrepreneur versus when I’m working in a nice group of people. I vastly prefer the group, and I’m coming to the conclusion that this preference is more than just something “nice to have”. It might be much more fundamental.
I’ve written two articles so far:
- A casual introduction on Medium.
- The official Kickoff Post on my digital garden dsriseah.com with copious cross references.
The general gist is that I’m going to try to focus my attention not on tracking project progress, but instead on creating deep, meaningful conversations that are strongly aligned with my values and purpose. If my hypothesis is correct, having the meaningful connections with like-minded people is the energy I need to be focused and productive. If I’m wrong…well, there is always Cycle 19 to look forward to.
That said, I’m pretty excited about this direction. I’m not sure exactly how it will go, but this year we have the GHDR Mastermind Group so I won’t be doing this alone!

I believe we all benefit when we respectfully share our perspectives on common experiences. My house rules are "please be respectful of divergent views" and "enjoy the flow of ideas!"
