The Dream of Life Balance
The Day Grid Balancer (or DGB) is a series of experimental “life balance” forms I made in 2009, for which I provided source files released under Creative Commons BY-NC-SA to encourage community remixing. I wasn’t sure exactly what “life balance” was then (and I’m still not sure), but I think people like its attitude of I want to be happy, dang it!
The 2011 edition has been modified to use the fonts that come with Adobe Illustrator (Myriad Pro as opposed to Helvetica Neue), and is now available in a non-cursing format in both US Letter and A4 paper sizes.
How to Use It
This form uses experimental graphics to try to remind people to balance their life. There is no set way of using it, though the form itself has places to write down what you want to do as a simple planner for the week (DGB01) or as a simple to-do list (DGB02).
You’re encouraged to download the PDF file and modify it. See?

If you have Adobe Illustrator that’s probably the easiest way to edit. This PDF is unlocked and retains all the editable text and vector objects to play with. You can also use a PDF reader to examine (and perhaps edit) the text.

The original post describes the original idea behind the Day Grid Balancer’s graphics, and also provides links to related articles. Enjoy!

Tip: To download the PDFs to your computer, right-click (control-click on Macs) the links and choose “Save Link As…”
Note: Some Macs have trouble displaying the colors in the PDF using the native PDF Viewer, but the forms should print correctly. If you install Adobe Acrobat Reader, the issue goes away.

HARSHER LANGUAGE VERSION
In the first release, some of the more gentile readers of this blog took exception to the language. For general release I’ve substituted the words “DANG” and “DARN” for the original phrasing. If you prefer the original wording, you can download the following ZIP archive of all 4 variations.
Enjoy!
