Passion for the Ivory Bill

I found this story on BoingBoing strangely uplifting. A guy paddling around in Arkansas see what he thinks is an extinct woodpecker. Two hardcore bird academics interview the guy, and are so excited they fly back with him to Arkansas. Extinct Woodpecker is spotted, and high emotion ensues! Excerpt:
“When we finished our notes,” Gallagher said, “Bobby sat down on a log, put his face in his hands and began to sob, saying, ‘I saw an ivory-bill. I saw an ivory-bill.'”
