Carb Crash Catastrophe

Carb Crash Catastrophe

So I’m in Wal-Mart on Monday afternoon, and see a new flavor of Pringles that begs to be tried: Jalapena flavor! Limited time only! So I bought a can of that, and also a box of Cheez-Its (the best cheese crackers, in my opinion). I go to a club meeting in Manchester, which ends up being a late night burger ‘n fries dinner at the 99 Restaurant. Then I get home, drink a lot of tea and have some of those Cheez-Its before hitting the sack around 4AM.

I toss and turn all night.

When I get my morning project meeting call, I’m absolutely out of it. Can barely think…my mind is fogged. When I get up to shower, I almost fall over because I’m so dizzy. At first I think maybe I caught some kind of bug while I was out. Can’t focus, and my back hurts. I take some generic ibuprofen, but I still feel like crap. In fact, I have to go and lie down and sleep for another 8 hours. It’s 9PM when I wake up again.

Then I remember…complex carbohydrates…damnation! When I used to work in Boston, lunch used to make me really sleepy. I never figured out that it was the bread and pasta dong a metabolic number on me until I tried the Atkins Diet and cut out carbs entirely. The result: I was clear headed, energetic, and focused. Man!

So Tuesday night, I threw out all the “snackable” carbs in the house and then went grocery shopping. Meat. Eggs. Fresh Vegetables. Splenda-sweetened products. It’s time to get healthy again!

Dude, that was hilarious. That sounds like it rivals some hangovers from my party days! I’ve found drinking lots of water also helps get the head clear too. Ice cold filtered water, can’t beat it. Well, unless it’s next to an ice cold frosty beer.  Mmmm Beeer. :)

Oh, golly, I had that today!!!  Why do people do that to themselves – I had that tonight… at a restaurant….
and especially restaurants now have such nice hige-salad entrees – why does anyone order these errggg heavy sit-in-your-stomach things?  Why did I?

Tomorrow’s a new, new day!!!  Gooooooooo yummy veggies!
