Terms of Work

For 2012, my consulting rate is $125/hr. For production design, the rate is US$75/hr. For long-term consultation, monthly retainers ranging from $50 to $1000 are available. As I’m interested in learning new things, it doesn’t hurt to inquire; this can bring prices down if you really are short on budget.

So, how does when get started working with me? Read on!

For Simple Projects

A small project is one that requires 10 hours or less of my time, billed at my current rate.

  1. We talk about what you want to do. We define what we can make that will do the job.

  2. I tell you how many hours it will take, in increments of 1-2 hours per feature. The hourly rate is used to estimate the project cost.

  3. You give me a deposit, typically 25% to 50% of the total estimated cost. Exception: for very short projects of 2 hours or less, a deposit is not required.

  4. I do the work, and deliver to it for approval. If you like it, you pay the rest of the payment due. Otherwise, we figure out what needs to happen to make it right.

  5. Upon receipt of final payment, you receive a copy of all the materials produced for your archives.

For Complex Projects

Estimating Costs

Typically, we will work out something based on your budget and proceed in steps that are comfortable for you. I’ll never bill you for work that you have not explicitly approved in writing. For more information, please read my detailed terms of work.
