Migration Complete: New Website

Site Launched! At long last, the new website is finally up!

The new website template, which is based on one I bought off one of those WordPress theme sites, is modern, responsive and has a cool drag-and-drop content interface that actually doesn’t suck, so I’m looking forward to being able to build some more interesting HTML-based resources.

This is the major delivery, too, for both Themed Work Week #4 and Groundhog Day Resolution Review #6.

There’s a whole boatload of post-relaunch things I have to look at, but at least the bulk of the content has been ported and moved to a new WordPress installation. I dropped the “Network WordPress” (aka Multisite) support, because it’s generally been more trouble than it’s worth for what I’m doing. All the process journals have been converted to categories of a single blog. This has killed a number of the links in these sub-blogs, but they were not extensively linked before. There’s little typography problems all over the place, and it looks like the WordPress exporter didn’t play nice with some of the content, but I’ll fix it as I come across it. I’m exhausted.

Hopefully no major disasters will uncover themselves in the next 24 hours. Fingers crossed!

I like your new website, with one exception. The faded color of the font is very hard to read due to lack of contrast. I would suggest taking a look at this.

Phil: I agree! It’s one of the next things I need to override in this new theme.

Ah, that explains it. I think your compact calendar got booted in the process. can’t seem to find it. :)

I take that back! I think when you search for it from google, the page that turns up isn’t pointing to the right page or is redirecting or something. :P

Charlene: Thanks for reporting that…I really appreciate it! The new compact calendar page had a slightly different name from before (an extra “the”), so the automatic redirect was broken. It is now fixed! Huzzah!

Well done Dave. The new website looks good. You’ve inspired me to return to my own half finished website and get it up and running!

Looks good! What theme did you use? I like the idea of drag and drop a lot.

FYI, I got about 17 old old comments chucked into my rss feed this week. They date from 2005-2006. Really weird. Most likely a one-time side effect of the migration, but I thought you’d like to know.

LouLou – That’s awesome! Post a link when it’s up!

Shanna: I’m using a theme called “Moose Responsive Theme”. It comes with a plugin that you can buy separately called “Visual Composer” which is very slick. Sorry about the old comments in the RSS feed. Hopefully it just happened all at once.
