Tarot Cards and Index Card Docks

Tarot Cards and Index Card Docks

Tarot Cards and Index Card Docks on my desk Reader Nancy suggested that an index card dock could be used for holding Tarot cards. I thought that was a cool idea, so I loaded up three card docks. These are all US Games decks; from left-to-right, a “Tell-Me Tarot” card, followed by “Universal Waite” and the ubiquitous “Rider-Waite” design.

Hey, these cards were drawn randomly, and if I think in terms of “past, present, and future”…

For those interested in what the cards are and some key words to their meaning: (from left to right)

7 of Cups- Confusion, options, wishful thinking, debauch 3 of Wands- Exploration, foresight, strength, virtue 10 of Cups- Family, joy, success, satiety

A question: Did you make those blocks? If so, how? I have some good lumber from a renovation, that I could repurpose into paper/card holders for my office. . .

Chris: Thanks for posting the interpretations of the cards! They are mysteriously appropriate.

Rob (EOD Oswald): Yep, I made them! See this post from a few days ago…I’ve been experimenting with these since last June.

Love that you have three tarot decks at hand! I recently contacted US Games to get a bid to create a custom deck (interesting process, project shelved for now by the person on whose behalf I was inquiring) and ended up ordering their catalog. It’s beautiful. One of the decks comes with a stand, but I didn’t see any stand-alone stands (har-har). I often take one card and contemplate it for a few days, placing it on my dresser or my desk.

I was wondering, but didn’t want to put you on the spot! I used to have the Crowley deck (a gift) but no longer. I now have just the Rider-Waite and the Morgan-Greer.

Heh, that’s OK! I just like card decks! I have a shoebox with a bunch of them, like the 8-bit Tarot and an Oblique Strategies deck. I haven’t really found another tarot deck I liked, as the RW has a lot of things to look at in the card imagery that lend themselves to interpretation. I would like to get an original 1900s deck someday, just for the mojo. Or a reasonable high-quality reproduction that doesn’t have US Games questionable copyright all over it.

Thank you! (I can’t believe I missed that post). Solves two things at once. Much obliged!
