I happened to notice the other day that there is a “promotions manager” on Amazon.com’s store manager, and I decided to run one for the holiday to see how it works.
Starting Monday, November 15 at 9AM (US Eastern) and running through December 31, I’ll be running an end-of-the-year promotion: Save 20% on two Emergent Task Planner pads. That knocks the price down from US$12.50 per pad to $10.00, a savings of $5.00. Single pads are still $12.50. If you add two pads to your cart, you should see the markdown applied automatically.
The big advantage of the pre-printed pad is the high-quality paper (Cougar Opaque White 80#) printed by a local printer I use, in crisp two-color spot Pantone ink. By using spot color, the crispness of the color text is much improved. There is room on the left for hole punching, too. Each pad is mounted on cardboard and shrink-wrapped so it is nice and new when it arrives.

To receive the promotion, add at least two pads to your shopping cart. You will see the “promotion applied” line item when you check out. The promotion runs until midnight, January 1, 2011.
I am not shipping outside the United States; you wouldn’t believe how much it costs to ship a pound of paper to Europe (it costs more than the pad).

Excellent — but I won’t miss out on an update of these in the five months I’ll be using them, will I?
Brian: Probably not of this form specifically, as it is pretty well-tuned as-is. There is a good chance that a smaller size will come out from the testing we’re doing in the super-secret testing lab, but that won’t be for a while.

I just went to amazon and ordered 1 (that is all I could order as I hit “prime,” ie 2 day free mailing. I then went in and changed the quantity to “2” and there was no reduction in price. Don’t worry about it –as you know I really need the Mini-ETP for my own use right now –but I will hand them out to my students who are having organizational problems and low progress on their dissertations. I began this 3rd year seminar assigning the whole book “Getting Things Done’ and during that time I gave out a bunch of your forms and explained how I use them. Now I’m having them read some technical books on “how to write a dissertation.” A different approach this year, I think its working and I think they like it. Anyway, I will give these to my seminar students but thought you would want to know that there was no discount for ordering 2.
Lynn: That’s awful! I am checking into the issue (Amazon’s back-end is often confusing and sluggish to use, so it’s possible I screwed something up), and I will send you an additional free pad to make up for it.
The discount issue has been fixed! Apparently it is possible to set a promotion on all your catalog products, but this is not the same as setting the benefit. Live and learn! I’ve emailed everyone who ordered two pads since the promotion start an offer to receive a free pad shipped at my cost.

I wanted to ask you, do you use any specific binder to hold these pages or would you recommend anything? I wanted something lightweight that I can put in and also review at the end of the week.
